FB 10(X) Foam Making Branch Pipe
FB 10(X) is a type of Foam Making Branch Pipe. The Foam Making Branch Pipes are used to extinguish the fire using a foam solution. The fire extinguishing method of using FB 10(X) is Smothering and Cooling.

The FB 10(X) Foam Making Pipe is commonly used on Helicopter Decks. This is used to extinguish fire types A (General Fire), B (Oil Fire) and C (Gas Fire).

FB 10(X) requires an Inline Eductor and a foam container to be used as a fire extinguishing aid. The Inline Eductor sucks AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) solution from the Foam Container through the Foam Suction Line to the Fire Main Line at the rate of 22 litres/minute when the Fire Main pressure is above 5 kg/cm2 (The working pressure of the Fire Main).
The inductor passes a mixture of AFFF and water through an ordinary hose to the branch pipe, which aerates and delivers the foam at the rate of about 1000 gallons of foam per minute. Using the FB 10(X) at standard conditions, the fire can be fought at a distance of 15-20 meters.

Operating Procedure of the FB 10(X) Branch Pipe
- Connect the Fire Main Hose to the outlet of the Inline Eductor and the other end of the hose to FB 10 (X).
- Ensure the Fire Main pressure is above 5 Kg/cm2.
- Open the Inline Eductor valve and allow the seawater to pass through FB 10 (X).
- Open the foam suction valve and ensure no backflow of seawater through the dip tube.
- Insert the dip tube inside the foam container.
- The branch pipe will produce thick foam that can be applied directly to the oil fire.

Safety Precautions
Foam Making Branch Pipe should always be used along with the direction of the wind since it is operated on the upper deck.
Equipment Peculiarities
- Working Pressure – 60 PSI (3-4 bar).
- Capacity – Produces about 4500 litres of foam while consuming 25 litres of AFFF compound.
